In this November’s elections here in Indiana we had some losses and gains.
We worked hard and won very important elections in the cities of South Bend, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Muncie, Kokomo, Anderson, Gary, Hammond, Lake Station, Richmond, Bloomington and Michigan City!
Democrats now have more elected mayors - 69 out of 119 - than ever before in statewide history.
However we had losses in the City of Indianapolis, Terre Haute, City of Marion, City of New Castle and the City of Lawrence. While we are disappointed by these loses we endured on Election Day we are confident that we will be able to work with the new administrations because being public employees we have worked with both parties. Our concerns are not what party a person is but what will they do for working men and women.
And while not all of our candidates were successful, we want to say thank you to everyone who participated in the election.
That support and more will be critical as we now move into the 2008 presidential and gubernatorial election cycles.
We need to keep our momentum going, maintaining our 5 seats, keeping control of the house and with the numbers being 51 – 49 we need to increase the amount to stay in control. Also to take back our Senate Seats! We will be having another Lobby Day January 30th 2008, more information at a later date. Keep your eyes on the web site.
